Linux System Engineer in Amsterdam will accommodate the tremendous growth and change that has been experienced, your role will mainly consist of building and expanding as opposed to just maintenance. Operational System Engineer for the Unix Grid/HPC platforms of our Products. Some interesting facts:

• 550+ servers and growing fast
• 750 million page views a day
• Over 500Tb of Network attached storage (Isilon)
• Internal traffic of up to 90Gbps

Functieomschrijving: Linux System Engineer

Linux System Engineer is responsable for:

• Monitoring and resolving system problems;
• Maximizing the performance and availability of the services;
• Conducting configuration management and version control;
• Ensuring the IT infrastructure's reliability and security;
• Communicating with customers to support and inform them about technological requirements;
• Working both independently and as a team to complete tasks.

Functiecriteria: Linux System Engineer

Linux System Engineer has:

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Linux administrator/engineer (e.g. Red Hat, CentOS, Debian or Ubuntu);
• Programming experience is a plus;
• Scripting knowledge (Bash, Perl);
• Knowledge of VLAN configuration, IPv4, and related protocols;
• Plus layer 2/3 networking and TCP/IP. Experience with Nortel and/or Cisco switches, Kickstart/PXE boot environments and/or CFengine is a definite plus;
• Understanding of the following is a plus: Dell hardware; security (IP tables, VPNs); Apache, Tomcat; virtualization (VMware ESX); Nagios ; and Cf-engine / Puppet.
