Interim Senior Controller

Algemene omschrijving

Scope of the role:
The main stakeholder is the Management Team of Operations departments. Other stakeholders are the different finance functions, in NL/UK and other supporting units (Sourcing & Contract Management, Tax department, HR, etc).

Deliverables:
Month end
• Responsible for updating the financial infrastructure
• Responsible for managing provisions and accruals
• Able to explain the P&L movements, including variances and exceptionals, within a short time frame after month end.
• Able to explain the balance sheet movements within a short time frame after month end.

Management Information
• Responsible for providing the management information to the different stakeholders, including commentary that explains P&L movement and exceptionals, within the expected time frame after month end.

Decision Support
• Provide support to the business for business cases, which includes the calculation of (redundancy) provisions and monitoring of the financial impact of the implementation of business case, which includes benefit tracking and ring fencing of (project) costs.
• Lead the process of periodical forecasting and requesting annual budget on behalf of the business. Ensure that business owns the end result
• Provide support to the business for any concerns they may have from a finance point of view. Liaise with different stakeholders within the finance community or within the business supporting units if required to resolve the issues.
• Support the business in the delivery of KPI’s that have a financial component (efficiency metrics)
• Support the business in the process of making clear how the costs within Opreations departments will have an effect on the P&L of the client facing divisions they support (cost allocation)
• Support the business in meeting the various requirements set by the different stakeholders. Examples are transfer pricing for services delivered for other countries and manage the limitation for payments authorisations.

Projects
• Participate in finance projects to improve the efficiency and the level of control within Group Finance.
• Participate in business projects to provide advice/recommendation regarding the financial impact of these projects.

Gestelde eisen

Experience:
• Education level:  University level or HBO equivalent with background in accounting or finance. The ideal candidate would also have a post graduate qualification (RC).
• Exposure at MT level in a finance supporting role.
• Experience of effective management reporting techniques including actuals, budgeting and re-forecasting
• Ability to deal with complex issues and be able to explain to staff that operate at different levels within the organisation.
• Years working experience: 3-5 years finance experience.

Other Significant Role Requirements:
• The role requires a network person, who is quickly able to develop relationships with various departments and/or stakeholders.
• The role requires sound judgement and a sensitivity of the impact of decisions / actions on other persons.
• The role requires the ability to demonstrate different behaviours in different situations.
• The role would require a person who is both a good team builder, but who can also operate on a stand-alone basis. The Senior Financial Analyst is expected to inspire and provide support to the other Financial Analysts in the team.
• Good command of written/verbal business English is required. A good command of Dutch is preferable.
• A minimum requirement is to be seen as a finance specialist who can act as sparring partner to our business customers, with strong communication skills and courage/resilience to challenge senior managers.
