Linux Project Engineer

We have a position available for an enthusiastic Linux Project Engineer with good customer facing skills and a European passport.
This position involves installing, configuring and testing of our clusters, as well as some technical project management and escalation support. In addition, you will provide training and technical support to our customers. Your training in specific Linux clustering technologies will be provided for by the client.

There will be ample opportunity to develop your skills and to take initiative. You will have the opportunity to work with the latest hardware and software technologies such as cutting edge massive storage platforms, high speed network interconnects as InfiniBand, Myrinet and 10GE as well as modern High Performance Computing software.

Gestelde eisen

Linux
Most supercomputer cluster operating systems and software environments are based on Linux and your tasks involve a reasonable amount of Linux troubleshooting, tuning and tweaking. You should be very familiar with the GNU/Linux Operating System at system administration level. The ability to script in Perl/Bash/PHP and knowledge about high performance and high availability clustering would be seen as advantageous, but not strictly necessary. You are expected to be familiar with various Linux distributions and generic Unix services.

Parallel Programming and Scientific Computing
Most of our Linux supercomputer clusters are used for scientific high performance computing applications and many of their customers are scientists. Some prior experience with parallel programming (MPI) and an affinity with scientific computing would be seen as advantageous, but not strictly necessary. Knowledge of technologies like SGE, PBS, LDAP, NFS, PXE, Heartbeat, Lustre, GPFS, FhGFS, Nagios and Ganglia is seen as advantageous, but is also not strictly necessary.

Customer Facing Skills
You will spend quite some time at customer sites and one of your tasks will include providing administrator and user training to customers. You will also be communicating with customers on the phone and through email.

Languages
You will frequently travel within the Benelux, United Kingdom, Germany and Southern Europe for HPC cluster installations, training and customer support. Therefore, fluency in English and Dutch is important. Fluency in French, Italian or German would be beneficial.

General Skills

Driving License

• Clean driving license required
• Own car would be an advantage
