Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent, medical, emergency relief organisation that provides assistance to people worldwide, regardless of their background, religion or political convictions. Above all, we aim to save lives and to offer medical care to victims of disasters, wars and epidemics. Working together with local staff, we give direct support to the population. MSF also appeals to those in power, including governments and international organisations, and speaks out about the abuses we encounter in the course of our work. The Dutch organisation ‘Artsen zonder Grenzen’ (MSF-Holland) is a member of the international organisation ‘Médecins Sans Frontières’.

The Logistics department plays a key role in ensuring logistic performance for the benefit of the programs conducted in the various project countries. The department consists of the Procurement Unit and the Field Support Unit. The Procurement Unit is responsible for processing the orders from some 25 project countries and delivering a wide assortment of medical and non-medical goods to the projects within the required timeframe. The Unit consists of a Coordinator, five Operational Procurement Officers, a Stock Manager, two Order Expeditors, three Tactical Procurement Officers, a Tactical Operational Procurement Officer, a Procurement Process Officer, a Pharmacist and a Medical Device Specialist.

based in Amsterdam

The Order Expeditor’s tasks are considered as an important contribution to an effective and efficient supply chain aiming at improving own service levels in terms of quality and speed. This way we respond better to operational needs.

POSITION
Together with your colleagues you are responsible for an effective and efficient purchase and transport process towards the project countries. You will be focusing on a specific part of the order process and play an important role in improving the transit time of orders.

Your core activities include:

• Check order confirmations from suppliers and provide follow-up;
• Enter supplier delivery dates into our database (we work with Oracle);
• Make adjustments where necessary to purchase orders in Oracle (e.g. prices, delivery dates) and reroute order lines to other suppliers if unable to deliver specific items on time;
• Maintain contact with suppliers concerning deliveries to the warehouse and adjust delivery planning where necessary;
• Communicate with Operational Procurement Officers about the status of the orders;
• Communicate with Tactical Procurement Officers about recurring delivery problems or long delays for specific products;
• Maintain filing within area of responsibility.

PROFILE

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible colleague with team spirit. You finished an MBO-level education in a commercial, administrative or logistical direction and have one or two years of administrative working experience. Logistical knowledge is a plus. You have extensive work experience with- and knowledge of automated systems (we work with Oracle). You have good communication skills and good knowledge of the English language. Understanding the Dutch language is an advantage. You furthermore are organized, stress resistant, result driven and service-oriented. It goes without saying that accuracy plays a pivotal role in this function.

• A contract for one year with a renewal option based on a fulltime appointment in salary grade 4 (with a gross monthly salary between € 1.899 and € 2.713 depending upon relevant professional experience and based upon a 40-hour working week)
